If you’ve got green on your mind with St. Patrick’s day right around the corner, PS contributor Jessica has a terrific project idea for you that will ensure you don’t have to deal with any pesky pinchers!
St. Patrick’s Day is just a few days away! If you’re anything like me, you usually find yourself scrambling for something green at the last minute. If you have a basic craft store nearby (or even a Walmart), you shouldn’t have any problem gathering up the supplies for this sweet little four leaf clover ribbon clip!
You will need 10 minutes or less, a hot glue gun, a lighter and:
an alligator clip*
FOUR 3.5″ lengths of green ribbon (3/8″ wide)
ONE 4.5″ length of green ribbon (3/8″ wide)
*in the jewelry findings aisle or you can get a box of 100 for around $5 at a beauty supply
Plug in your hot glue gun and let’s get down to business!
First, make sure you heat seal your ribbon ends with a lighter. Take two of your 3.5″ ribbons (printed side down) and hot glue the end of one to the end of the other at a 90 degree angle.
Continue with the final two 3.5″ pieces and you should end up with a cross like this:
Take the left “arm” of the cross and fold it down, keeping it in line with the next ribbon over and fix in place with a dot of hot glue. This is your first leaf. Repeat this process as shown until you have all four leaves done.
There’s your clover head!
Next, you will line your clip using the 4.5″ ribbon and hot glue, as shown in the picture below:
Glue the clover head to the tip of the lined clip. The pinch part (that’s the official term – ha!) of the clip should be at the bottom of the “stem”.
Finish it off with a rhinestone in the middle and get ready for the “OhEmGee, you MADE that?!” that you will get from your friends and prepare to enjoy NOT getting pinched!
