I am always on the lookout for fun little craft projects I can whip up quickly to add to my gift-giving stash to pass along to someone special at a moment’s notice. This easy yo-yo clip craft idea is a perfect project to keep important papers organized in style, and these clips couldn’t possibly be easier to make. Use one as an expected pop of color to wrangle office papers, or clip one around a gift card for a simple yet pretty presentation. There are so many possibilities for these little guys! Let’s get started making a few.

For this project, you will need..

To begin, make a number of fabric yo-yo’s using the fabric scraps and the buttons and other items you gathered for use as the yo-yo centers. To do so, be sure to check out my detailed step-by-step guide for creating fabric yo-yo’s, which also includes handy PDF templates for a variety of sizes.

When your yo-yo’s are ready, use the punch to cut out 2 circles from the cardstock. Apply a generous dab of hot glue to the center of one of the circles, affixing the narrow end of one of the paperclips to the circle, as shown…

…and then position the remaining circle so it is precisely aligned with the bottom one to form a little “sandwich” of sorts: circle, clip, circle. You’ve just created a handy little surface where you can easily mount your yo-yo!

Now, affix a yo-yo to the circle with hot glue.

Wasn’t that as easy as pie? In no time at all you can craft an entire collection of these little beauties, and they cost just mere pennies to make!

In addition to put to use in a conventional paperclip sense, these clips also make terrific bookmarks! By using a variety of fabrics and centers, you can customize the look of these to suit any taste. I just love them!

Looking for even more fun little craft projects to whip up in a flash?
