Sequin Teacup Topiaries

Last week, I shared the reveal of my new White and Gold mantelscape, which I created using some items near and dear to my heart, including a painting by my talented dad and some pieces of the china my husband and I received when we married. To add some pops of vibrant sparkle to the mantel, I created some fun gold sequin topiaries to display in two of our cup and saucer sets, and today I’m going to show you how. These would be a perfect decor option for any number of events, including weddings, baby showers, holidays and more!

For this project, you will need…
3-inch styrofoam balls
20mm sequins (For two topiaries, I used approximately 2 1/2 packages of 75)
Sequin pins
1/4″ wooden dowel
Acrylic or spray paint
Rolled decorative moss
Working from the bottom of one of your styrofoam balls and working your way to the top, pin rows of sequins to your ball in rows, overlapping the edges and concealing the pins as you go. Note: Although the sequins I used already had holes punched through them, the heads of my pins were smaller than the holes, so I pushed my pins through the area next to the holes to make sure the sequins were nice and secure.

Trim your wooden dowel to 5 inches and paint it in your desired color. When the dowel is completely dry, poke it up through the bottom of your sequin ball. Cut a styrofoam ball in half, and place it in the bottom of a teacup (or your chosen vessel). Cover this styrofoam base with a piece of moss, and then poke your assembled topiary down through the center.

All finished!
These little guys are so easy to make, but their festive sparkle really makes them special!

I hope your week gets off to a terrific start!

Super cute! I pinned them :-) Growing up, my mom and I made some Christmas balls with sequins in a similar way!
