Embroidery Hoop Rudolph Ornament (Swell Noël #6)

Today’s Swell Noël Post features a darling handmade ornament idea made from an embroidery hoop compliments of Angie at the Country Chic Cottage. Catch up on all of the projects from the series by visiting the photo guide of all of the ideas shared by the talented Swell Noël contributors, and follow along as things happen on Twitter, Facebook, Google+, Pinterest and Instagram by using the hashtag #SwellNoel.

Hi y’all!  My name is Angie and I blog over at The Country Chic Cottage.  I am thrilled to be here today for Amy’s Swell Noel series.  I am going to show y’all how to make my embroidery hoop Rudolph ornament.

He is too cute right?  I used a 3 inch embroidery hoop and some jute twine.

I wrapped the embroidery hoop tightly with the jute twine.  I did a double layer of the twine on the entire hoop.

Now let’s make his head.  I used my Silhouette to cut out a deer silhouette I found from scrapbook paper.  You could absolutely print one and use scissors to cut this out.

I actually did not like how big those antlers were so I gave him a hair cut.

I then added two googly eyes with hot glue.  I used the tip of my paint brush to make a red sparkly nose.

Now onto his feet.  I just used a rectangle of scrapbook paper.

I then just cut the legs until they looked right.

I cut away the top portion so it would be hidden after I added to the hoop.  Then I used a Sharpie to add a few hooves.

Then just glue your head onto the area where the screw is on the hoop.  I added another piece of twine to use for hanging on the tree.

I then hot glued on those feet.

He is ready to hang on the tree (that is as soon as we put it up!).  I hope you enjoyed this tutorial and will make your own Rudolph.

Thanks so much for having me Amy!  Y’all come by the cottage anytime for a visit!

This is super cute! This might be a great craft to use for a classroom holiday party–maybe use plastic shower rings to keep the cost down?? Thanks for the inspiration!
