Bow Tie Place Settings

If you are planning a wedding or other special event, today’s simple place setting idea is one you are sure to love. By taking a standard square napkin and folding it with a flourish, you can give each plate at the table its own bow tie. This idea is easy to execute, too, making it the perfect project for weddings or other large events. Let me fill you in on all of the details!

Bow tie place settings - Such an easy, pretty wedding idea!

For this project, you will need…
Woven cotton quilting fabric (amount required will vary depending upon the desired number of place settings)
Rotary cutter and mat
Coordinating thread
Sewing machine
Satin ribbon
Fray Check
Small rhinestone buckles

1. To make a napkin, use the rotary cutter and mat to cut a 16” square of fabric. Apply a narrow hem to each of the raw edges, or finish with a rolled hem on a serger.
2. Fold the finished napkin in half. Rotate the napkin 90 degrees; fold into thirds.
3. Trim an 8-10” piece of satin ribbon. Seal the ends with Fray Check.
4. Loop the ribbon around the napkin and through the rhinestone buckle.

You are finished!

I love that you can tailor this look to fit any theme or color scheme simply by using your favorite fabrics.
