Looking for a fun accessory to punch up your spring wardrobe? Look no further than this gorgeous DIY necklace idea shared today by PS contributor Janel from NellieBellie!

Supplies:

Sculpey clay
Acrylic paint in multiple colors
gold chain
gold jewelry rings (for attaching discs to chain)

(This is what Sculpey clay looks like. It’s easy to find in most all stores including big box stores.)

Step 1.

Roll out your clay about 1/4 inch thick.

Step 2.

Cut 2 sizes of circles. I used a water bottle top and a dime to achieve mine, terribly scientific…I know. You will need 8 large circles and 9 small circles.

Step 3.

Set the circles on aluminum foil on a baking sheet. Be sure to use a chopstick or other tool to punch holes into your clay wherever there will be a connecting ring. I missed some and ended up having to drill holes in the baked clay. Not a big problem, but it would have been much easier if I had done it right in the first place.

Now, bake your clay according to the directions on the package.

Step 4.

Paint your clay in the base color you are using.

Step 5.

Paint a color strip in the center of your disc and then rub it in. Paint a lighter color higher on the disc and then rub it in. Repeat this process many times until you get the desired effect. You want to blend the edges of each color a bit into the one next to it, but not so much so that it’s a muddy mess.

Step 6.

Apply a clear color of paint all over the disc (mine had a bit of glitter)

There you have it. Now use those jewelry rings to attach the discs all together and the chain and you have a fantastic and eye-catching Watercolor Bubble Necklace!
