Pate-Meadows Designs Giveaway!

July 22, 2011 By Amy @ Positively Splendid

***Contest Closed***

Congratulations to Jen @ The Crafting Fiend, lucky #5!

***

Happy Friday!

We’ve made it to another beautiful weekend, and I have a giveaway lined up today that is sure to be a hit with all of you wanting to spruce up your home decor!

Pate-Meadows Designs is a company specializing in easy-to-sew patterns that help you outfit your home with gorgeous, show-home caliber window treatments. With the step-by-step instructions included in every Pate-Meadows pattern, everyone with even the most basic sewing skills can achieve these dynamic looks with ease! What I adore most about Pate-Meadows is how it is such a marvelous example of two mom-preneurs who have managed to build a terrific company. Check out the video below for the full story of how Pate-Meadows came to be.

I first came across the Pate-Meadows line of patterns in an issue of Southern Lady magazine, and I was smitten from the moment I saw them. I immediately made my way to their site to explore, and I found myself coveting just about every pattern in their store! What impressed me, too, on that first visit was how each and every pattern in their arsenal is designated with a skill level, with levels ranging from beginner to intermediate. What a terrific feeling to know exactly what to expect from the creative process!

Our living room windows have been completely stark since we moved into our house, so I was absolutely delighted when I had the opportunity to work with one of the Pate-Meadows patterns and their tools and hardware to create a treatment to give them some flair. I decided the Ruth pattern was just what I was looking for. This pattern yields a dynamic, eye-grabbing result, but as one of the beginner-rated patterns, it is delightfully simple to construct.

As I journeyed through the process of creating and hanging my valance, I found myself referring numerous time to the terrific lineup of instructional videos and helpful tips available on the Pate-Meadows site, with topics ranging from piping how-to’s to details for how to use the marvelous line-up of Pate-Meadows hardware to hang your creations. With Pate-Meadows patterns, you can rest assured that none of the questions you encounter along the way will be left unanswered.

Working with this pattern was a pleasure! The planning and sewing process were simple and straightforward, with detailed charts outlining exactly how much fabric, cording, etc., I would need based on the size of my window. When it came time to hang my creation with the Pate-Meadows post adapters, knobs and rings, I was able to do so in a morning with just a couple of basic tools. I found the tack gun available on their website to be invaluable in assembling my valance, and I adore the fact that in using that tool, my valance is completely reversible! The look I achieved with this window treatment is something that could easily have cost me hundreds of dollars had I opted to have a professional decorator come into my home!

I am absolutely thrilled to announce that the lovely ladies at Pate-Meadows are generously giving away one of their patterns to a lucky Positively Splendid reader!

Just look at the incredible array of patterns to choose from!
