Pumpkin Pickin’

October 24, 2010 By Amy @ Positively Splendid

We had so much fun Thursday during the kiddos’ pumpkin patch field trip for school. Until we moved here, I had never been to a pumpkin patch before, but our visits there have become my favorite part of the season, by far!

The photo of Charlotte below was taken by one of the kiddos’ teacher’s daughter. Oh my, how I love it! I have to give some serious credit, too, to my amazingly talented mom for making the girls’ matching Halloween dresses this year. She truly outdid herself.

Last year at a Scholastic warehouse sale, I came across a sweet little book for the kiddos called My Happy Pumpkin: God’s Love Shining Through Me by Crystal Bowman. The story is draws a precious parallel between the process of cleaning out a pumpkin before we carve its happy face to God’s transformational love and how it makes us clean on the inside, too. If you are a parent of small children wanting to mitigate some of the scary images that inevitably go along with the festivities this time of year, you really should get a copy of this book for your collection!

Blessings,
