Looking to add a patriotic pop of fun to your decor this July 4th? Today, I’ve teamed up with Scotch to share a fun patriotic craft that is quick, easy and perfect for making with kids. This glittered star garland craft is as simple as can be to make, and it is a perfect way to punch up decorations for parties or any other display. And, because it uses clever glitter washi tape, you can have the glittery look you love without the mess of traditional glitter! (Yay!) Read on for the full project how-to.

For this project, you will need…
- White cardstock
- Star-shaped paper punch
- Hole punch
- Scissors
- Twine
- Scotch® Expressions Glitter Washi Tape – this project used Platinum and Teal Blue
- Scotch® Expressions Packaging Tape – this project used Red Scroll
Note: Follow all Scotch® Brand package instructions for proper application and approved surfaces.
To create blue and silver striped stars, affix four alternating strips of the Platinum and Teal Blue Scotch® Expressions Glitter Washi Tapes to the cardstock, starting from the bottom of the sheet. Adhere the tape so the edges of each strip just meet.
Use the star-shaped paper punch to punch through the tape-covered cardstock, creating as many star shapes as desired.
To create red stars, affix one strip of the Red Scroll Scotch® Expressions Packaging Tape to the cardstock, smoothing the tape as necessary. Use the star paper punch to make star shapes as you did in step 2.
Use a regular hole punch to make a hole in one of the points of each star shape. Then, use scissors to cut a strand of twine that is the desired finished length for the garland. Thread each of the star shapes onto the twine.
Your festive glittered star garland is complete!
This little project would be so much fun to make with children (and adults!) as they wait for the July 4th fireworks to begin. I love that the glittered tapes allow this project to have a glittery sparkle and shine without all of the mess that usually comes along with glittered projects!
