Stylish magnetic memo boards

April 27, 2010 By Amy @ Positively Splendid

FacebookTweetPinYummlyPrint
I have a secret tool in my crafting arsenal that I’m going to share with y’all today: the $1 unfinished wood frames at Michaels! I adore their versatility, and as the icing on the cake, the price is certainly right. Believe it or not, the project below is simply a $1 frame masquerading as a stylish magnetic memo/photo board!

I have always loved magnetic memo boards as a stylish, yet functional, form of decor. They are perfect for displaying photos or holding notes or recipe cards. Wouldn’t this be a terrific gift to put together for a special mom or teacher in your life?

Supplies:
8×8-inch unfinished Michaels wood frame (the size intended to hold a 3.5-inch square photo)
Spray paint
Hammer
Acrylic paint
Foam brush
Faux finish glaze and paint brush (optional)
Cardstock
Galvanized sheet metal (important to insure magnets will stick to your board!)
Metal Shears
Gorilla Glue
Drill and 1/16″ bit
7/16″ upholstery nails
Burlap
Scissors
Now, the really fun part: deciding how to accessorize your new little beauty! I, of course, would highly recommend putting together a darling set of two or three of the {{Beguiling Blossoms}} I posted about yesterday. However, I suppose any set of cute magnets would be a great way to dress her up. 😉 Add a photo of a little cutie in your life, and you are all set!

Please don’t hesitate to let me know if you have any questions!

Happy creating!
