Chevron Stocking Hangers (Swell Noel #13)

October 20, 2011 By Amy @ Positively Splendid

The fabulous Ashley and Whitney from Shanty 2 Chic are here this morning sharing an inexpensively amazing idea for creating your own stocking hangers!
***
Hey guys! We are the Shanty Sisters of Shanty 2 Chic and we want to thank Amy for asking us to share a fun Christmas DIY!
We chose to make these stocking hangers because we have fallen in LOVE with all of the different versions on Pinterest!
Here’s how we made ours for under $5 each!

We started with 2 scrap 2×6’s cut at 5 1/4″ each and sprayed them with our favorite cream spray paint.
To add some fun Chevron flair, we cut a Chevron pattern with our Silhouette and dry brushed the pattern on to both blocks with a light gray acrylic paint. To dry brush, dab the paint off of the brush until it’s very dry and then blot the paint on to the stencil.
When the paint dried, we attached the two blocks with an epoxy.
We found these simple hooks at Lowe’s for $3.50…
and screwed them in to the center of the bottom block.
We LOVE these finals that we purchase at Lowe’s (2 for $2.00) so we spray painted them cream and
pre-drilled a hole in the top block to screw them in to.
For the final touches, we spray painted these cute mini clothespins (purchased at Hobby Lobby ~ about 30 for $1.50 after coupon) and hot glued them under the finals.
That was it!!!
There’s nothing better than a frugal and chic DIY! Here a few other frugal Christmas/Gift ideas we have shared in the past:
Christmas Apothecary Jars
Ruffle Christmas Tree
Pottery Barn Inspired Photo or Greeting Card Display
Christmas JOY Plaques
A huge thanks again to Amy and you all for having us! We would love for you to follow our blog, Facebook and twitter!

These are so cute. I love how they could be adapted for any color scheme so you can personalize it to your room. I tend to change themes every year or so and this would be great. Repaint! Thanks for sharing

Really cute! Much better than putting nails in the mantel.

precious! would also be cute if you screwed them to a ledge in a mudroom to serve as coat/bag hooks for the little ones. Can’t wait to make these!
