Last summer, I started a new tradition with my children. We raised our very own butterfly “family” from teensy larvae all the way until they were ready to be released into our back yard! This was an activity we all loved, and it was a terrific learning opportunity for all of us.

Isn’t this an amazing activity to do with kids! We recently found swallowtail caterpillars on our parsley and are using our habitat to raise them now. I’ve posted a couple of pictures recently.

How neat! Is there a best time of year to do this? I imagine it would vary with different climates.
Oh Amy…we did this for years with our kids! Same company too!! great idea!!
I do this with my preschool class every spring… it’s such a joy to teach life cycles this way!! Insect Lore is the best.
