Creative Outdoor Fall Decor

To say that I love fall is putting is mildly. I don’t just love it. I adore it. And there are few ways I love to outfit my home in fall style more than by making an autumnal statement on our front porch. With just a few simple, inexpensive items, I can completely transform the feel of our home in true fall fashion. 
This year, I decided to add a couple of creative twists to my outdoor fall decorating in addition to the traditional pumpkins and mums I always incorporate into my display. By taking some items I had on hand from my summer garden and using them in innovative fashion, I was able to creative show-stopping displays to showcase fall color in all of its rich glory: pumpkins, gourds, mums and more! 
I have a lovely metal trellis that I use to grow clematis in the warmer months that I have always wanted to use in my fall display. My mom actually came up with the idea to use it as a vessel to contain pumpkins and gourds in various sizes. I stacked two pie pumpkins and two grapevine pumpkins from the dollar section at Target in the bottom of a metal container (the same container we use to ice down beverages for summer entertaining) to create the base for my design before I slipped the trellis over the pumpkin stack. After that, I tucked miniature pumpkins on top of the larger ones in order to fill the trellis. 

To round out this container, I nestled a yellow mum and a pretty croton alongside the pumpkin-filled trellis, along with a few extra miniature pumpkins and gourds to fill in any blank spaces that remained.

Another showy mum placed in a decorative urn, my DIY picket fence pallet,and a grouping of pumpkins round out the display. What a statement this makes next to my front door!

For another quick-and-easy display, I used the same technique I used for my polka-dotted tiered planter in the summer to create a fall display with a small red mum, some yellow pansies and some miniature pumpkins and gourds.
I purchased two small terracotta pots from Lowe’s and nestled them one inside the other using the method detailed in my original tiered terracotta planter post…

…and then filled the pots with my flowers, pumpkins and gourds. So simple!

    Lovely, Amy! I think something similar might work near my front door! We don’t have a porch (boo), but we do have a flat concrete area around the steps that may be a good spot.
