Framed Moss Outdoor Wall Art

May 28, 2013 By Amy @ Positively Splendid

When decorating outdoor spaces, many overlook a perfect blank slate for adding a splash of style: the walls! Today I’m sharing how to make quick and easy outdoor wall decor with empty frames and a roll of decorative moss. Let me show you how easily it’s done!

For this project, you will need…

  • Rolled decorative moss
  • Empty wooden frames
  • Hot glue
  • Wooden welcome sign
  • Spray paint

Spray the frame in your desired color and allow to dry completely. Measure the opening of the frame, and use scissors to cut a piece of moss that is just larger than the opening…

…before using hot glue to adhere the moss to the back of the frame, so that the right side of the moss shows through the front of the frame. So simple!

For the welcome sign option, take things one step further by adhering a wooden “welcome” embellishment spray painted in the color of your choice to the front of the frame.

I used clear command hooks to hang my frames above my front porch bench to create a simple yet eye-catching outdoor gallery wall.

I purchased the frames at Michaels, Tiffany. They come in so many cool shapes and sizes, they have become one of my favorite crafting supplies!

I’m kind of disappointed. I was expecting actual moss decor, not the craft kind 🙁

So sorry you were disappointed, Krys. I liked the idea of using the dried moss, since it eliminated the fear of having the dampness from live moss hurting the exterior of my home. Thanks for stopping by!
