Handprint and Footprint Reindeer Craft

December 22, 2011 By Amy @ Positively Splendid

Nothing is quite as sweet as an art project made by little hands, and I have a soft spot for any craft that includes hand- and footprints. I can envision myself many years down the road stumbling upon these creations and treasuring the fact that items such as these forever connect me to these four little creatures I love so dearly.
If you are looking for a fun project to do with your children in these last days before Christmas, this Handprint and Footprint Reindeer Craft is one that can be put together easily even with the youngest of artists. And the end result is a gem that is sure to make you smile!

For this project, you will need…
Non-toxic acrylic paint: dark brown, light brown, and red
Foam brush
White cardstock
Scissors
Glue stick
Colored construction paper
Black and white adhesive craft foam (or wiggly eyes)
(one) Paint your child’s hands using the light brown paint and the foam brush, and make prints onto the white cardstock. Do the same with one of their feet using the dark brown paint. (Acrylic paint cleans up easily with soap and water.) Allow the prints to dry completely.
(two) Cut out the prints. Create eyes using your black and white craft foam. Using the glue stick, adhere your handprints on the left and right sides of your piece of construction paper, and then adhere your footprint to the center.
(three) Adhere your eyes just below the toes on your footprint. Finish your reindeer by placing a thumbprint nose with red acrylic paint on the heel of your footprint.

All done!
I dare you not to grin when you look at these little guys. 🙂

So cute! I have a big soft spot for the hand and feet artwork, too. I had to send in a white t-shirt with my toddler to daycare, and he came home with this exact same reindeer design on it. I love it!! We’ll probably frame it as Christmas artwork for next year. ♥

    Merry Christmas, my friend!! 🙂
