A Passport to Creativity

July 3, 2013 By Amy @ Positively Splendid

Now that the second month of summer vacation is upon us, it is likely that many of you are finding yourselves in the same boat I am, listening to the whines of little creatures who start to utter the dreaded B-word (“I’m bored!”) more frequently as the weeks go by. Craft projects are the best possible way to keep little hands and brains busy, and the Michaels Passport to Imagination program is one way I am engaging my children in fun, creative endeavors to battle summer Bored-itis!

The Passport program, which kicked off in June and wraps up in August, is arranged in such a way as to allow participants to pick and choose as many of the available classes as they wish. The crafting “journey” takes children around the world as they learn about different cultures and creatures on each of the different continents.

South America was the stop during the class last week, and my kids had a blast crafting colorful lizards and a make-and-take game of pom-pom soccer, complete with a pipe cleaner goal.

At a cost of just $2 per child per session for children ages 5 and up, the Passport to Imagination programs are a terrific way to beat the heat and blend some creative time into summer days! Classes are available on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 10 AM to noon. I encourage you to contact your local Michaels store for availability.

Have you heard the exciting news? Michaels stores now carry fabric! (Wahoo!) Now you can purchase the supplies for any of your creative projects all in one place. How exciting is that? I will be sharing more about this coming up next week, so stay tuned for the full scoop!

This post is brought to you by Michaels, who believe just like I do that creativity is a key ingredient of a summer to remember.
