Meaningful, Edible Easter Treats

April 5, 2011 By Amy @ Positively Splendid

As a Christian, there is absolutely no holiday I love sharing with my children more than Easter. The hope and immense joy of Christ’s resurrection is a message that I want to be conveyed to them in meaningful, memorable ways. After all, there is nothing more important to share with them than the message of the empty tomb!

Teaching tools that appeal to one of the senses are almost always the most effective. Enter today’s list of ideas: all meaningful, edible ways to share the Easter story with your children!

Idea 1
Easter Story Cookies @ Fly Through Our Window

These meringue cookies are meant to be prepared with the help of little hands, and each added ingredient is accompanied by a bible verse that tells a portion of the Easter story. I love that they are placed in the oven at bedtime to be removed in the morning!

Idea 2
Resurrection Buns @ Positively Splendid

I shared our family recipe for these sweet rolls last year. Made using pre-made frozen rolls, these treats are as delicious as they are meaningful. One yummy bite reveals a hollow, sweet center, symbolizing the empty tomb on Easter morning!

Idea 3

Resurrection Rolls @ Balancing Beauty and Bedlam

A recipe very similar to my Resurrection Buns above, these rolls are made using refrigerated crescent rolls (no rising required), and they are another marvelous recipe to encourage kiddos to get involved in the kitchen!

Do you have any traditional treats you enjoy for Easter?

Amy, I adore these!! I wish I had done these when my own kids were younger, but I will share these with my preschool parents… and may even try them with my teenagers. What a beautiful thing to share~ teaching moments. 🙂
    Thank you!

Thank you for this… I love making the most of meaningful holidays for my little ones. Another good recipe for Easter is soft pretzels, used to be served as “Prayer Bread”. There is a great post on them here:
