Glittered Horseshoe Garland St. Patrick’s Day Craft Supplies

  • Darice 3.5×3.3″ Wood Horseshoe Cutouts
  • Green FolkArt Multi-Surface Paint (This handy set includes a rainbow of great colors!)
  • Green Extra Fine Glitter
  • Mod Podge
  • Foam Brushes
  • Hole Punch
  • Green Baker’s Twine
  • Assorted ribbon in green, yellow and white
  • Scissors

Using the foam brush, paint the front surface of each horseshoe with the paint. Allow to dry completely.

Apply a thin layer of Mod Podge over the surface of each painted horseshoe with a foam brush. Sprinkle generously with glitter; shake off excess. Allow the Mod Podge to dry completely before applying another layer of glitter in the same manner for complete, even coverage. When the final layer of glitter has dried, apply a generous coat of Mod Podge over the glitter layer to seal the glitter. Set the horseshoe pieces aside to dry completely.

When the glittered layer is dry, punch a hole through either side of each horseshoe as shown. Cut a piece of baker’s twine long enough to accommodate each of the horseshoes with about 2″ of space between each one. Thread the twine through the holes of the horseshoes to string them onto the garland.

Cut 4-5″ sections of ribbon, and tie them around the twine in the spaces between each horseshoe, twisting and layering the pieces until you have achieved the desired look.

I love the idea of using a similar concept to make a St. Patrick’s Day wreath. You just can’t go wrong with ribbon and glitter!
