Fathers’ Day Photo Collage + Free Printables

June 8, 2011 By Amy @ Positively Splendid

FacebookTweetPinYummlyPrint
**Updated 6/7/12: Because of the outpouring of comments I’ve received requesting some different variations of the printables for this project, I have created sets with a number of additional names, as well as printables that say “I love you because” instead of “we love you because” for families with just one child.

To peruse all of the files that are available for download for this project, click here.

If you are wanting to make a version of this project for the moms in your life, check out the collection of printables I made for Mothers’ Day.

Please remember that these files are for personal use only. You can use them to make as many gifts as you desire, but please don’t make anything for profit. Thank you!

This adorable photo collage displaying things kids love about the men in their life is the PERFECT Fathers' Day gift!

I was lucky enough this week to get my hands on my very own set of No Biggie Bubbles, and the moment they arrived at my doorstep, I knew I had to find a way to use them for Fathers’ Day. I absolutely love how these photo collages of the kiddos turned out, and I know our dads will, too!

Creating these couldn’t possibly be simpler:

Snap photos of your kiddos holding signs telling what they love most about their daddy (dad, papa, granddad, etc.).

Download one of the free “We {heart} You” files below, deciding which orientation and wording suits your needs.

Use Picasa (available for FREE through Google) to create a collage using the file you just downloaded and your sweet photos, and print them onto photo paper (or send them off to be professionally printed). Not familiar with how to create a collage in Picasa? Here’s a quick how-to.

step 1 / Select your desired photos and your “We {heart} You” file by clicking on them with your mouse while holding down the Ctrl button on your keyboard. Now, click on the button that says “Collage” at the bottom of the screen.

step 2/ With the “Settings” tab selected, choose the grid option from the first drop-down menu. Use the slider just below that to adjust the spacing between your pictures. At this point, drag and drop your photos to rearrange them as desired within your collage. Now, choose your size (I used 8×10) and then click on “Create Collage.” Print out your collage, and place it in a frame. That’s all there is to it!

If you have more or fewer kiddos, you’ll have to adjust the layout of your collage accordingly. Fortunately, Picasa gives you plenty of options for doing just that!

I have made one of these for Mr. Splendid, and one for each of our dads from the kiddos. I love that this was such a quick and easy project, but that it is one that has such sentimental value. I think everyone will love it!

If you are interested in putting together one (or a few!) of these collages, I have created two different sets of the “We {heart} You” files, in both vertical and horizontal orientations depending upon your needs, which you can download for free. I hope you’ll find the name your kids call the special guy in your life below. 🙂

These files were created for an optimal printing size of 5×7. If the collage idea isn’t for you, another terrific option would be to frame the printable on its own, and then display the framed photos of your kiddos alongside it. What a darling mantel display that would make!

To see all of the printable files for this project that are available for free download, click here.

Some of the names included: Dad, Daddy, Papa, Pop, Pops, Granddad, Grandpa, Gramps, and more!

What a great idea, Amy! We don’t have any kids… I wonder if people will think I’m too weird if I made one with our animals (since we have parrots, the talking bubbles would be appropriate – ha!)

Amy- I love this and will be doing this for Father’s Day; but I’m having trouble downloading the files I need. I can see where it says download, but when I click on it nothing happens. Any suggestions? I’m not sure if it’s on my end or not.

Also, for a cheap, easy way to make the conversation bubbles, I’m using core foam board and chalk board spray paint. Let’s hope it works!

I have added all of the names y’all requested to the file linked above. Enjoy! 🙂

@Stephanie S – Are you still having problems with the download? All works fine on my end, so I’m not sure what to suggest?? So sorry! Love your idea for the foam board!

@Ashley – I can change names, but not the color scheme.

@Lerin – After you’ve clicked to the second page, click back again to page one, and you should be able to see the Daddy printables then. It must be a glitch of some sort.

The chalkboards I used are No Biggie Bubbles available at NoBiggie.net (there is a direct link in the tutorial above).

@Hollywoo0805 – Are you referring to the size I used in Picasa? If so, my collage was 8×10.
