This post is brought to you by FloraCraft. // With Christmas just around the corner, plan ahead for a spectacular holiday place setting. My glittered faux bois Christmas tree centerpiece will be a gorgeous addition to your holiday table, and it is such an easy project!

Glittered Faux Bois Topiary Christmas Tree Centerpiece #foamfortheholidays

For this project, you will need…

  • Styrofoam cone trees
  • Make it Fun Smooth Finish
  • Small trowel
  • Wooden skewer
  • Acrylic paint
  • Foam brush
  • Extra-fine glitter
  • Wrapping paper
  • Pencil
  • Scissors
  • Hot glue
  • Pedestal cake plate or serving platter
  • 10-inch decorative mesh
  • Bead garland
  • Greenery sprigs

Directions

For the glittered faux bois topiaries:

  • With the trowel, spread a layer of Smooth Finish over the surface of the trees. Allow to dry 15-20 minutes before applying a second layer of Smooth Finish.
  • While the second layer of Smooth Finish is still wet, use the pointed end of the skewer to draw a woodgrain pattern over the surface of the tree. Set aside to dry completely, at least 1 hour.
  • When the surface is completely dry, use the foam brush to paint with acrylic paint.
  • While the paint is still wet, apply the glitter over the surface of the tree, shaking off any excess. Set aside to dry completely.

Glittered Faux Bois Topiaries

For the wrapping paper topiary:

  • Lay the topiary on its side on the back side of a piece of wrapping paper. Use a pencil to trace the contour of the top and bottom edge of the topiary as you roll it in a curved path. Continue tracing until you have a traced piece that is long enough to completely cover the topiary.
  • Cut along the traced lines with scissors. Wrap the piece around the topiary, securing with hot glue.
  • Cut a circle piece of wrapping paper to cover the top of the topiary, and affix with hot glue.

To assemble the centerpiece:

  • Cut a square piece of Decomesh, and place it on the bottom of the cake pedestal or serving platter.
  • Place the completed topiaries at the center of the arrangement.
  • Surround with the bead garland, and accent with greenery sprigs.
  • Cut a length of Decomesh to use as a table runner that is 12 inches longer than the length of your table. Place at the center of the table, and then center the completed arrangement at the center of the runner.

It’s absolutely incredible how different layers and textures can transform simple elements into a collectively spectacular display!

Decorative mesh is such a versatile, fun supply to work with. It can add so much personality to wreaths and garlands, but it is also an incredibly simple, stylish way to add character to tablescapes when used as a super simple table runner or a foundation in arrangements like this one!

I love the faux bois texture on your trees. The colors you’re using this Christmas are so fun and pretty, too. Thank you, Amy.
