Hass Avocado Salad with Spicy Vinaigrette

September 27, 2011 By Amy @ Positively Splendid

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Hass Avocado Board featuring Hass Avocados for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

Every single member of our family loves avocados, and there is absolutely no avocado that rivals a Hass avocado in taste and quality. I never purchase anything else! A traditional guacamole is always a hit with my crew, but sometimes I like to change things up a bit. This particular salad recipe is one that my aunt introduced me to many years ago, and I’ve been making it with rave reviews ever since!

Avocado Salad with Spicy Vinaigrette
(yields 2 servings)

For the salad:

2 large Hass avocados, halved, pitted and sliced into half-inch wedges
1/4 of one large red onion, very thinly sliced
One handful of cherry tomatoes, halved

For the vinaigrette:

2 Tbsp. olive oil
2 Tbsp. red wine vinegar
1/4 tsp. garlic powder
2 dashes hot sauce
1/4 tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. pepper

Combine avocado, onion and tomatoes in a large bowl, and stir gently. Set aside.

In a cruet, combine olive oil and next five ingredients. Shake vigorously to mix. Pour over avocado mixture and toss gently to coat. Can be served chilled or at room temperature.

Those avocados actually look like the pretty green ones that used to grow in my backyard. They’re different from the dark ones that I see all the time on US tv.
