Making the most of rainy days

February 4, 2010 By Amy @ Positively Splendid

Will it ever stop raining here in Arkansas?! After the beginning of the year, I suppose I held out the naive hope that 2010 would bring an end to the constant dreary weather just as abruptly as it began at the beginning of 2009. It has been a solid year of consistent clouds! Not to be held down by Mother Nature, we’ve been forced to come up with new non-outdoorsy ways to pass the day. We build tents in the living room, take out oodles of books from the library, watch movies, bake cookies….you get the idea. The kiddos are having fun, and I know that is the most important part!

While engaged in my cleaning frenzy a couple of weeks ago, I stumbled upon this little puppet theater Sharon had given the kids ages ago. I feel horrible to admit that I had forgotten about it entirely until I saw it hanging out at the top of Cecily’s closet. It was a very fortuitous (re)discovery, because Jack and Charlotte have really gotten a kick out of it!

I have discovered the dollar section at Target to be a terrific place to find things to help while away a gloomy afternoon. We picked up a jump rope during a recent trip there, and Jack loves it! You should have heard him giggle when I gave it a try. 😉

The girls are both taking a nap, so before the quiet comes to an end, I am going to try my hand at making my little guy some cargo pants!
