Pottery Barn-Inspired Chandelier from Bethy Belle Crafts

August 18, 2011 By Amy @ Positively Splendid

Bethany from Bethy Belle Crafts is here today to share an idea for turning a ho-hum object into something inspired by the pages of a Pottery Barn catalog!
***
Hi everyone! My name is Bethany and I am a stay at home mom of two beautiful children and wife to an amazing husband. I like to live frugally (is that a word?) and love to craft! Finding and creating new things is my remedy for the hum drum of everyday life. Enjoy!
I saw these the other day on Pottery Barn Kids and fell in love!
However, they are $29 and I am too cheap to spend that much. So I decided to make my own.

Here is what I used:
spray paint, plastic beads, wire, and a green planter (it came with a metal planter that sat inside it)

I got the beads from Hobby Lobby when they were 50% off and that wire planter was from the thrift shop for $2.
I was going to spray paint the planter with black matte, but then I decided not to. My daughter’s room is pink and green so I just left it green.
Then, I just took my beads and my wire and started stringing them together. For the top, I used silver chain that I had lying around.
Here is how it turned out
It sort of looks a bit more chandelier-ish than Pottery Barn’s, but I am happy with how it turned out. I especially love that it cost me about $10 to make vs. $30 to buy!

Thanks so much, Bethany, for stopping by to share this project with us!
By the way…
I’ve been making the rounds to some of my favorite blogs to share projects this week. If you haven’t already, venture over to Tip Junkie, where I shared yesterday the deets for how to create this darling magnetic fishing game with your kiddos…
…and to See Kate Sew where today I’m sharing the tutorial for this fun Pleated Wrist Cuff in honor of her Pleat Week extravaganza!

(And yes, that is a snowflake I included on that project – in the middle of August. A girl can dream….)

Happy Weekend Eve!!
