Printable Valentine Bookmarks + A Valentine’s Day Link Party!

January 28, 2013 By Amy @ Positively Splendid

If you would like to go a candy-free route for Valentine’s Day goodies this year, today’s idea for printable valentine bookmarks is one you are sure to love. Armed with this free printable sheet of bookmarks and a bit of kicky ribbon, in just a few minute’s time, you’ll have whipped up a classroom’s worth of valentines that are sure to be put to good use!

Printable Valentine Bookmarks at PositivelySplendid.com - A great alternative to candy!

Read on to see more about how easily these come together, and then stick around to share YOUR best Valentine’s Day ideas in a special Valentine’s Day party I’m hosting along with nine other lovely ladies!

Assembling these bookmarks would be a great activity to complete with children, as they only require a couple of simple steps, and they are the perfect craft to complete in assembly-line fashion.

To start, print the sheet of bookmarks onto white cardstock. (You can find the download below.) Use a paper trimmer to trim apart each of the bookmarks, and then punch a hole through the top of each.

Cut a 6-7″ piece of ribbon for each book mark. Fold the ribbon in half, and slip the folded end through the punched hole, from the front of the bookmark to the back.

Form a slipknot with the ribbon by pulling the loose tails of ribbon up through the looped end, as shown.

Pull the knot gently to secure it (don’t pull too hard, or you might tear the bookmark), and then trim the ends of the ribbon at and angle with shears for a polished look.

All finished!

My son’s first grade classmates will be receiving these this year. I love the idea of giving a gift that will encourage them to read!

If you wish to make the bookmarks more durable, consider laminating each after trimming them apart.

**Updated 2/12/13 – After receiving a number of requests, I have created an additional version of the bookmarks that contain only a “from” field and no hole for punching at the top, in case you opt not to add a ribbon. (Of course, if you want to add a ribbon to the new version, you still can!) Many classrooms request not having valentines filled out for specific individuals, so this will help all of you who happen to be in that situation. Enjoy!

Version 1: With ribbon hole and “to” and “from” fields.

Version 2: Only a “from” field and without ribbon hole.

Please be courteous when using these printables and remember that they are intended for personal use only. Thank you!
