Saturday Seven (No. 8)

April 23, 2011 By Amy @ Positively Splendid

One thing I love about this blogging community of ours is the industrious spirit that is so evident in so many projects. There is something so gratifying about taking something old, worn out, or outdated, and turning it into something useful or beautiful!

With Earth Day just past (it was yesterday), I thought it would be very fitting for all of the projects in this week’s Saturday Seven lineup to share a common thread: repurposing. I have to say that in perusing different blogs for projects to showcase, I was genuinely inspired by the plethora of outstanding ideas out there!

So now, in no particular order, this week’s
{Repurposing Project} Saturday Seven!

No. 1
Crib-Turned-Bench @ A Diamond in the Stuff

Once we are past the crib stage, I have vowed to myself to remember this idea! Absolutely lovely!

No. 2
Ladder Laundry Rack @ Little Lucy Lu

What a marvelous space-saving idea! And I adore the blue color Bec chose here, too.

No. 3
Toddler Bowling Game @ Nice Girl Notes

For anyone with toddlers, these little containers are probably immediately recognizable. Turn the packaging from Gerber “poofs” (our fond nickname for them) into a fun bowling game for little ones. So. Incredibly. Smart!

No. 4
Recycled Cardboard Window Valance @ In My Own Style

A girl who can create something attractive out of cardboard is a girl after my own heart! Can you believe this valance started its life as a humble box? No kidding!

No. 5
Vintage Typewriter Planter @ Besserina

Bess has an affinity for old typewriters, and I can certainly understand why. Isn’t this lovely, and so completely unexpected? Bravo!

No. 6
Pen and Pencil Caddy @ Random Thoughts of a SUPERMOM!

I love when a kids’ crafting project is actually something that can be put to good use! The moment I saw this great idea from Kelli, I added it to the crafting queue for my little ones.

No. 7
DIY Solar Lights @ The Hand Me Down House

I fell head over heels for these last year! Wouldn’t these be great for outdoor entertaining?

So, which repurposing/recycling projects would make it into your list?

Thanks for reading! Enjoy your Easter weekend, my friends!

Ding Ding Ding! I just had an ah-ha moment when I saw that crib-turned-bench. i just took down my toddlers crib because a spindle broke, but there are three good sides! I wanted to repurpose it somehow. This is a great idea!
