For the backing , it is all 1.5 inch scrap squares all pieced together and then hand quilted…you can see the love she had for sewing in every stitch , it is so beautiful..

I am so excited for this giveaway. I am fairly new to the whole sewing thing and I can’t wait till I get my DIY office Make-Over done. I have to say that it has been awhile since I ran a sewing machine because I do most everything by hand. But this website and other SEW amazing websites have inspired me like no other to get the creative thoughts flowing again. My first project is to make curtains for my office. After that it will be making organization items for my purse and carry bag for Avon.

The most thrilling handmade gift ever was one that I gave, not received….

For Christmas one year, my brother and I teamed up to design a whole guest bedroom look for our mom, to do a room makeover for her. I made my first ever (lined!) drapes and some gorgeous pillow covers in the Aviary 2 birds collection in mustard and gray. We found artwork (I even made some with fabric remnants!) plus everything else to pull the whole room together for her, and the look on her face was priceless! (AND I get to enjoy that room when I visit her, lol!)

New to this “crafty” thing but home with a two week old (2 older girls in daycare) and just made a version of your art hangers. Made 6 of them – 1 for each bedroom and 1 each for a hallway. They are so cute! For some, I made by hand. For the others, I used already painted wood pieces from JoAnn’s / Michaels, painting and glueing the spools between them. The girls are going to love them! Thanks!

I cannot believe this wonderful opportunity. The giveaway is beyond mind-blowing. I’m also excited to find some new Facebook postings to follow about the art of sewing. I taught high school “home economics”, now called Lifeskills, for almost 40 years. I would love to win this package and offer sewing lessons from my home. Thank you for putting together such a great opportunity. Phyllis aka Becky Homecky.

My favorite handmade gift came from my husband’s aunt. She made me a blanket that folds into itself and then tucks into a pocket on the back of the blanket to keep it stored nice and neat. I take this blanket EVERYWHERE I go. The best part about this blanket is probably not anything it was intended to be. I am always cold, so I use it a lot when we are traveling. (My husband sweats while I am shivering.) The pocket that is supposed to hold the blanket when it is folded up makes the perfect place to keep my feet. This way, I don’t have to worry about it sneaking up to leave my feet cold.

I can’t tell you how many evenings I have curled up with the blanket on the balcony of a condo overlooking the ocean during our vacation over the 4th of July week. I would love to find the pattern to make more of these. I think everyone should have one!!! If I win this contest I would be set to make a lot of these blankets for my friends and family.

Thank you for sharing this giveaway with us. Someone is going to be a very happy person when the winner is announced!

My favorite handmade gift received would be a “3-D” wedding anniversary card, for my husband and I, that was made by my daughter. It was a box shaped card made from post-it notes that was taped, glued, sparkled, hand drawn and told us how much she loved us.I have it displayed on my sewing table. She makes us a card every year. But this was the best!

My favorite handmade gift has to be the little clay goblin (sculpted, baked and painted) that my son made me, with his dad’s support. Jamie has Sensory Processing Disorder, and fine-motor work is very difficult, tiring and frustrating for him, but he really wanted to make one for me, and pushed through several hours of effort of artistic work, to do so. I was rather sick at the time, and he remembered hearing that my favorite movie to watch when I was sick, when I was a kid, was Jim Henson’s “Labyrinth”. He thought that a goblin (such as the movie is full of) would be a great ‘Get Well’ present to help me feel better. <3

Not really handcrafted in the traditional sense, but when my husband and I had been dating for a year, I received a mini photo album for my birthday from his mother.
