Navy, Gold & White Winter Mantel

January 7, 2013 By Amy @ Positively Splendid

After the festivities of the holidays have come and gone and the decorations have been packed away, outfit your mantel for the winter season. With rich gold tones juxtaposed against crisp white and preppy navy, these winter mantel decorations are some that will last the whole winter through!

Each year, it is our tradition to wait until Epiphany (January 6) to take down our Christmas decorations. That day is usually very bittersweet, as my relief at having the house de-cluttered is tempered with the melancholy of knowing that another holiday season has come and gone. Yesterday as I was taking down my Christmas mantel decor, I found myself wishing that I could keep it out for just a while longer instead of packing it all away. So, instead of boxing up all of the elements from my Christmas mantel until next year, I decided to keep many of them on display for a winter mantelscape!

My DIY sunburst mirror was the star of the show in my Christmas mantel, and I opted to let it remain on display, along with my gold topiaries.

To glam things up a bit, I used a necklace bottom and an ornate pendant from Styled by Tori Spellingย to create a swag for the center of the display. Two navy and white bows add a preppy touch!

The flocked white bottle brush trees from my Christmas display also transitioned beautifully from a Christmas to a winter motif. The balls from my sequin teacup topiaries last summer and a white candy dish from Hobby Lobby round out the right-hand side of the display.

At center stage is a white ceramic chess-piece horse that I snagged on clearance at Target last year. I made sure he’ll be ready for cold weather by giving him a nice little ribbon “scarf.” ๐Ÿ™‚

At left, I used the footed cloches that I purchased at Hobby Lobby a few months back. (These have also made an appearance in my Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas mantels.) This time, I nestled two bottle brush trees in each one, and I used white thread to tie a pretty gold and rhinestone pendant from Styled by Tori Spelling onto one of the larger trees for added pizzazz.

I really love how the doily look of the cloches and the candy dish in this display mimic the look of snowflakes. Perfect for winter!

Because I used so many elements from my Christmas mantel, this display only took about a half hour to execute from start to finish. Not too shabby!ย This decor will be perfect for transitioning me straight into Valentine’s Day, and although is the first time I have ever had a winter mantelscape like this one, I think this will become a standard from here on out.

Thanks so much for stopping in!
