Easy Balloon Monsters

February 22, 2011 By Amy @ Positively Splendid

I‘m sure I’m not alone in racking my mind for ways to keep my kiddos entertained when playing outside simply isn’t an option. If you’re in the same boat, here is a quick and easy Creating in a Crunch project to do with your little ones, the supplies for which you are likely to already have in your arsenal of crafting goodies!

To make your own balloon monsters, you will need…

Balloons
Flour
A funnel
Glue
Embellishments: Felt, googly eyes, feathers, a permanent marker, etc.

Directions:

Fill each of your balloons with a cup or so of flour using your funnel. Tie off the end of your balloon, and then wipe away any excess flour with a damp rag. Now, the fun part! Cut out lips, hair, noses and other features for your monsters and secure them with glue. Googly eyes are also a fun option here! Use your marker to draw on eyelashes, ears, and other details.

Allow your monsters to dry completely, and then have fun squishing and distorting their little faces to see how funny you can make them look!

Something fun we did with our monsters to make the fun last even longer was to play hide and seek with them. Have your kiddos hide their eyes while you hide their monsters throughout the house. The child who finds the most monsters wins!

Blessings,
