With the holidays nearly here, kids are looking forward to an extended break from school! Make the most of that time together with these 10 fun Christmas break activities.

10 Great Christmas Break Activities for Kids

I’ve teamed up with Plaid for today’s post. All opinions are entirely my own.

10 Fun Christmas Break Activities for Kids

One: Make Christmas Cards

These sliding door gift card holders are so easy and fun to make!

Two: Sip Hot Chocolate and Watch Christmas Movies

Homemade “instant” hot chocolate is nice to have made in advance to make prepping a cup as easy as can be.

Three: Go Caroling

Load up the car and visit a local nursing home or shut-ins in your community. Bring candy canes to hand out afterward to amp up the holiday spirit!

Four: Deliver Treats to a Local Police or Fire Station

Christmas Tree Rice Krispies Treat Pops would be a hit, and they are fun and easy for kids to help make.

Five: Make Something Tasty for Santa

He’s sure to be smitten with these adorable Santa Oreos!

Six: Snuggle in for a Good Book

Check out our family’s list of favorite Christmas books to add some new books to your library.

Seven: Make a Homemade Gift

These fun Mason Jar Snow Globes would be perfect for anyone on your list!

Eight: Make a Memento

Create a crafty reindeer out of your child’s handprints and footprint to enjoy for years to come.

Nine: Make a Keepsake Ornament for Your Tree

These Christmas List Photo Ornaments are something you’ll always treasure!

Ten: Have a Painting Party

Having a painting party is one of the best Christmas break activities you can do with kids! Did y’all know that Plaid hosts monthly painting parties on Facebook that are available for absolutely FREE? You can participate in real time as they happen, or any time afterward by visiting their library on on-demand videos from all of their paint party nights. These projects are so fun to make with kids, and they are a perfect way to spend an afternoon or evening together while creating a genuine piece of art! My kids and I recently sat down together to follow along with Plaid’s most recent Paint Party project, which is a beautiful painting called Holiday Magic of a glowing Christmas tree. All four of my kids, ranging in age from 6 up to 12, absolutely loved doing this together, and they were so proud of their paintings at the end!
