Spiderweb Doily Canvas Art

October 11, 2012 By Amy @ Positively Splendid

The Halloween decor is in full swing at our house! Now that our mantel and front door are done, I decided to create a few simple Halloween art pieces. Here is an easy project you can complete in less than 30 minutes… a Spiderweb Canvas {made with a doily and bakers twine!}

Supplies you’ll need:

  • doily {I found mine a few months ago in the $1 bins at Michaels}
  • wrapped canvas {mine is an 11×14 size}
  • bakers twine {gray/white, or black/white}
  • spider stickers {these glittered ones are Jolee’s Boutique from Michaels}
  • chipboard stickers, stamps, or stencils {for the “eek!”}
To create a “spiderweb” effect, I weaved a piece of bakers twine through my doily across its entire length. The I repeated the process five times, to create a total of six spiderweb strings. I secured the ends of the twine to the back of the canvas with clear tape. Here’s a look at the finished web:
Then I just added the chipboard letter stickers to say “eek!” and stuck on my cute little glittered spider.

So simple, and it turned out so cute!

Nat and Holly are two sisters who share a love of all things creative. Currently living 462 miles apart, their blog, My Sister’s Suitcase, gives them a place to share their ideas {and an excuse for lots of late-night phone calls!} They hope to inspire you with holiday and home decor, easy DIY projects, and creative upcycling. They also have lots of simple kids activities, free printables, and inexpensive gift ideas. They would love for you to join them in their LDCR {long-distance crafting relationship!}
