Whimsical Christmas Stockings

December 7, 2010 By Amy @ Positively Splendid

Thank you so much to everyone who voted during the audition round at So You Think You’re Crafty. I am thrilled to say that I made it through!! Season 6 will begin in January, so I hope you’ll stay tuned.

In case you’re curious, I submitted these
Ballard-inspired Whimsical Christmas Stockings.

I call them my Pippi Longstockings. 🙂 I actually made this set for my parents as an early Christmas gift, but I can’t wait to make a set for our little family, as well. I suppose with this crazy move happening at the worst possible time, though, that will have to wait until next year. Oh well!

So…did you guess correctly which project was mine? 🙂

These little beauties were truly a breeze to put together. No kidding. I had so much fun mixing and matching some bold, vibrant fabrics to really make them pop! The stockings below were my initial inspiration from the Ballard catalog, but I knew that $35 apiece was simply not in the cards this year. I am honestly glad I was operating on a shoestring budget, though, because I have to say I like my set even better than the original!

Would y’all be interested in having me put together a tutorial for how I made these? If so, I will be more than happy to get that done early next week. Just let me know, either via email or in the comments below!

By the way…you would be remiss not to check out the Season 5 finals going on right now over at SYTYC. The finalists have seriously raised the bar with their projects. It was so hard to choose between them! I hope you’ll head over to cast your vote!

T minus 2 days and counting until the movers arrive…

CONGRATULATIONS!!! I am SO very proud of you. With all you have going on right now in your life, the fact that you put these together and got them submitted – you are amazing!

The names sort of gave it away for me but, YES, I did get it right and I was more than honored to send my vote your way!

I’m always intrigued with what your latest projects will be. We have purchased B a sewing machine for her birthday, so I have a feeling she, too, will be coming here a lot! 🙂
